Who We Are?

About Us?

Twezuule Foundation is a youth and disability led organization that champions uganda. and upholds an inclusive society for persons withdisabilities in We are dedicated to championing economicindependenceamong youth with disabilities across the nation. The organization was founded by individuals with different impairments and run by those who are able-bodied because we can’t preach disability inclusion without the involvement of able-bodied people. Persons with disabilities are always left out when it comes to developmental issues, and that is why Twezuule Foundation is committed to an inclusive approach on sustainable human development that benefits all and ensures that no one is left behind.

BACKGROUND

The world has a population of 1.3 billion people with disabilities and that is translated to be 1.6% population according to the World Health Organisation and Uganda as a country has a population of 4.5 million people with disabilities and this translates to 12.4% according to UBOS 2016, these numbers indicate that 1 person out of 6 people is a person with a disability and its estmated that this number might have increased due to the different causes of impairments. Statistics show that the biggest number of people with disabilities are unemployed reason being our communities haven’t embraced disability inclusion in that even those who are qualified in different fields aren’t given opportunities to execute what they know at the end of the day, you will find this person in a state of not being able to afford even the basic needs like food, clean water, shelter and medical services

We have interacted with so many youths with disabilities in different communities across the country and the biggest challenge is that their parents denied them educational support ever since they acquired their disabilities and it’s tricky for them to get a formal employment and we believe if we skill them differently for example in craft making, simple sewing skills ( making of re-usable sanitary towels ) basic skills in bakery, production of detergents ( Liquid soap, hair shampoo, shower gel, sanitizer etc ), digital marketing skills atleast they can survive. Statistics show an estimated increase of 30% in poverty levels among youth with disability yet most of them have no access to skills or startup capital to establish economic generating activities
